REHABILITATION AND EXPANSION OF KOTOKA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

  • Extension to Runway to accommodate Wide Bodied Aircrafts and Aprons (Civil Works, and provision of Aviation Ground Lighting) 2001-2004

    This component of the project (Lot 1) involved extensive Earthworks of over two million cubic meters of filling to raise a 7.5m high embankment for the runway extension. It also involved extensive works in asphalted concrete surfacing on the Runway, Perimeter roads, Pavement Quality Concrete Passenger and Freight Aprons, taxiways and some selected internal roads and drains in the Airport and the Car Park at a cost of $ 28.7 million.

  • Rehabilitation and Expansion of Terminal Buildings( Arrivals & Departures) Facilities (2001-2004)

    This Lot (2) of the project involved extensive rehabilitation and expansion works on the Terminal Building, Landside Building, the Canyon, tunneled Meeters & Greeters, Airport Square and the Technical Block and the accompanying electro-mechanical engineering installations at the cost of $28.5 million.

  • Kotoka International Airport-Communication, Navigational Aids & Radar systems (2001-2004)

    This component (Lot 3) of the rehabilitation project comprised the Supply and Installation of the State-of-the-Art Aviation Communication, Navigational Aids and Radar systems as part of the upgrading and expansion of the Airport to serve as the Gateway to the West African Sub-region. The total cost of this Supply and Installation Contract was $ 20.75 million

    This Lot (4) comprised the supply and installation CCTV, Flight & Baggage Information Display Systems, Common User Terminal and Telecommunication Equipment on a Fibre-Optic Backbone to bring the Airport’s operation in line with Global trends in aviation. This Lot cost $5.05 million

  • Kotoka International Airport (Phase II) Additional Works (2004-2007)

    This component of the Airport’s rehabilitation and expansion, which is complimentary to works already carried out under the Phase II Project, was to enhance the operational efficiency of the Airport and its facilities and comprises Civil Works-Diversion to Railway Corridor, Access road for Fire/ Safety Equipment, Improvement of drainage systems, Electromechanical and Building works in the Terminal Building at a cost of US$4.3 million.

Expansion of Kotoka International Airport
